Michèle Findlay

I describe myself as an idiosyncratic artist – probably because I have worked in a variety of media from clay, to metal, textiles and paint; often combining several media in one piece, expressing my unusual fascination with the combination of different materials.
Ceramics was my first love and I continued using clay until I found handling it rather more than I could manage. Today I concentrate mainly on painting, mostly using acrylics but also exploring printing and multi media pieces. Occasionally I still make 3D pieces using a variety of material such as copper, wire, driftwood, found objects and textiles.
Twenty years ago, I was a founding member of Chalk Gallery and an active member for 5 years. Recently I was part of the steering group of Salt Edge Arts, a local collective of 16 artists as well as the curator of other local exhibitions.
I enjoy being part of a group of artists aiming to create a welcoming and attractive venue displaying their beautiful work.
