My textile art is both experimental and obsessive.
Each piece can be significantly different, but all have the same initial bones of either a printed, dyed, or painted background. The fabric I use can be recycled clothing, cottons, linens, watercolour paper, mulberry paper or something the cat bought in.
I then develop with hand and machine embroidery building up towards the finished piece. There are a myriad of stitches, but I tend find the repetitive use of the simplest stitches produces the best effects. The final stage is the embellishment which can incorporate anything but primarily beads and sequins.
I would sum up my work in three words Colour Texture Stitch
