I am a photographic artist working with both traditional and experimental techniques. Much of my work leans towards the abstract. I use the camera as a tool to reflect my vision and imagination, exploring how landscapes can hold memory and emotion as well as physical presence. This idea of time being elastic — of past and present overlapping — runs through much of what I create.
I sometimes hand-finish my photographs with materials such as gold and silver leaf, paint, or stitch, creating distinctive one-off pieces. I am also interested in the connections between image and text, and I make books that bring together photographs with words, poems, and fragments of writing.
I have taken photographs from an early age and always had a strong visual awareness. Most of my career was spent in technology and web design, running my own business gave me the freedom to be flexible with my time and eventually to return to photography with renewed focus. Over the years, I have worked with and learned from highly regarded photographers, and I have achieved an Associate distinction with the Royal Photographic Society.
I have exhibited widely in Sussex and Kent, as well as in London and New York. I have been featured in national publications and have given numerous talks about my photographic practice.
Experimentation and discovery remain central to the type of work I make today. At the heart of my practice is a curiosity about memory, place, and transformation.
