Smoke-fired ceramic vessel with Sussex clay interior by Katharine Rabson Stark

  • Smoke-fired ceramic vessel made from white clay with a Sussex clay interior.

This is a decorative vessel which is unique in every way. It started by making a pinch pot, with coils added to make it taller and larger, morphing and changing gradually as I built it. It is a very tactile piece of art, but the edges have been kept deliberately jaggedy. Inside I have painted it with a slip made from Sussex clay, dug from the back garden of my friends Sarah and Phil in Framfield. Lovely red clay.

Approx 17cm high x 10cm wide at its widest point.
