Alan Deacon

Alan has enjoyed a long career as an architect alongside his passion for painting, particularly in watercolour.
He has developed an identifiable ‘style’ which has evolved over a thirty year career as an artist. He is neither a portrayer of accurate detail, nor an abstract painter, being most comfortable and happy somewhere in between. His subjects vary from Still Life to Landscape. His inspiration might be an oblique view or an emotional response to something that he sees.
In Alan's own words: “A downside of creating so many detailed architect’s drawings can be an unwanted swerve towards accurate painstaking precision. I sometimes have to work quite hard to avoid it. I regularly remind myself that when it goes wrong, and it certainly does, it’s only a bit of paper. But when it goes right that ongoing process of ups and downs heightens the enjoyment towards finally seeing a picture mounted, framed and on a wall and the knowledge that someone else enjoys the work as much as I have enjoyed creating it.”
