Sheila Marlborough
I was born in Sussex and love the South Downs and surrounding countryside.
My art training was part-time courses at Brighton Polytechnic and St Ives School of Painting, followed by many years of experience, having painted since childhood.
My highlights have been to win the Royal Watercolour Society Award at the C 21 Open Exhibition in 2002, and having had work shown frequently at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Galleries, London, over a period of ten years.
I paint in acrylic and mixed media now, and most of my semi-abstract work originates from memories of landscape, both travelled through and images remembered.
Strong composition and emotive colour interest me most, to create an individual and atmospheric interpretation of the landscape. I love the act of painting, of putting colour on canvas and achieving that indefinable "something", which takes over and dictates the outcome of the work.
My work can also be seen at the Brighton Art Fair, on stand 69, from Setember 16th - 19th 2010
